It has 3,875 on it and it’s a pile. I thought Kias were getting better?

Pile compared to what? They are cheap ass cars and serviceable for what they are.

I had a focus last week with ~7k miles that couldn’t figure out how to shift.
Borderline worse than the kia soul I had week before that had to downshift two gears to maintain 70 on the treacherous terrain of Dallas/Fort Worth.
Almost every rental car is a piece.

To be fair most rental cars are garbage at 3k miles

Compared to the Focus I had last time or the Sonic I had before that. I actually think it’s broken, so I’m sure it’s not a fair assessment of the model as a whole.

I don’t remember, I just found it in my downloads folder and thought it was more interesting than a Forte.

I think the picture is form a Google project... Or something. They built a network of computers and they were trying to teach it how to identify certain images, like eyes or faces or dogs. They had (have?) a portal you can use to try it out, this is probably the result of that.
Semi-found it! Google Deep Learning network:

What year? Wife and I have a 2011 hatchback, and I love it. It’s not quick by any stretch, but handles well enough for giddy onramp jaunts. Hauls lots of stuff if you need to. The wife has started to complain that it is not comfortable, but she went from a less than 20 mile per day commute to a greater than 60 mile per day commute, so I think it's just saddle time wearing on her, and 80,000 total miles. But it is a cheap car. Interior is holding up well, but I find rattling parts every so often. Our roads are god awful too, so makes it worse.
